Bodh Gaya Heritage Highlights
Meet your tour guide at a pre-decided location or your hotel in Bodh Gaya.
Visit the ancient Mahabodhi Temple, considered the oldest Buddhist stupa in the world. Meditate near the bodhi tree, supposedly a descendent of the original tree that the Buddha achieved enlightenment under.
Explore the Sujata Stupa, dedicated to the milkmaid Sujata who is said to have fed Gautama Buddha milk and rice, thereby ending his seven years of fasting and asceticism and allowing him to attain enlightenment.
See the Great Buddha Statue. About twenty metres tall and made with sandstone and red granite blocks, the statue was designed by V. Ganapati Sthapati and took seven years to complete. It was consecrated on 18 November 1989 by the 14th Dalai Lama.
Admire the Wat Thai temple. This temple was built in a Thai Buddhist style in order to commemorate the golden jubilee celebrations of King Bhumibol's accession to the throne of Thailand.
Proceed to the Tibetan Monastery in Gaya which was established in 1938, before returning to your hotel.
