Private Educational Day Trip Of Prague
Begin the tour after meeting your Prague tour guide and visit the actual site of the attack on Heydrich and the controversial memorial there, erected in 2009. (Recommended watching the 2016 movie Anthropoid).
Head out of Prague to the ruins of Lidice. This town was erased in retaliation for Heydrich's assassination. Today, the haunting ruins of the school, church, and other structures remain, as well as a moving memorial to Lidice's children.
While returning to Prague, stop at Panenské Březany, where you will see where Heydrich lived in a mansion confiscated from Jewish industrialist Ferdinand Bloch-Bauer in 1939.
Next, stop at the Church of Sts. Cyril & Methodius.
Visit the crypt where the Czechoslovak paratroopers hid during the manhunt following the assassination.
Finally, visit the nearby part of Prague that was bombed by Allied forces. Unknown to many, American B-17 bombers accidentally levelled this area in 1945 due to a navigation error, mistaking it for Dresden.
If you like, you can also pay your respects to the members of Operation Anthropoid, who are buried in a mass grave at Ďáblice Cemetery. It is home to many other victims of World War II, as well as the communist occupation.
