Head out of Taipei and get to see the sandy beaches, seaside towns, and natural wonders of Taiwan’s North Coast. Closely observe the unique rock formation at Yehliu Geopark, get a cultural vibe at the Jiufen Village or release sky lanterns at Shifen Street.

Itinerary

Outskirts of Taipei
- Start the tour by meeting the North Coast tour guide.
- Drive out of the city of Taipei and visit the Green Reef at Laomei, which are covered by green reef every April and May.
- Go to the Yehliu Geopark. At the Geopark, see the Queen’s Head, formed through 30 years of erosion, becoming more and more slender.
- Head out for Jiufen Village. If tourists are tired after walking, they can rest in the tea house to taste the delicacies of Jiufen.
- Visit Shifen Street, where tourists can find sky lanterns called Kongming Lantern, which is used for praying for safety, love, and career. After releasing the sky lanterns, tourists can also buy cold marble soft drinks in summer.

Green Reef: It's a seasonal hot spot that travellers love to visit. (Reminder: Green Reef at Laomei is a seasonal spot. If not travelling in the right season, the route will alternate to visit Elephant Trunk Rock.)

Remember to have a glimpse of the Queen's Head at Yehliu Geopark, or it may be vanished in the future because of erosion. Yehliu Geopark has a unique natural landscape formed because of ocean water and wind erosion, giving the rocks a candle-like shape. At the Geopark, see the Queen’s Head, formed through 30 years of erosion, becoming more and more slender.

Jiufen Village: When Taiwan was under Japanese rule, there was a gold rush in Jiufen. Jiufen became famous again after Hou Hsiao-Hsien's- A City of Sadness movie which narrates a Taiwanese story in Jiufen. Jiufen Village is a unique immigrant isolated village in the mountains of the Qing dynasty. This place is also famous for delicacies like Taro Balls, Fish Balls, and Rice Cakes.

Shifen Street: Visit Pingxi during the Lantern Festival. Afterwards, visit Shifen Street where tourists can find sky lanterns which are also called Kongming Lantern, which is used for praying for safety, love, and career now. After releasing sky lantern, tourists can also buy cold marble soft drink in summer.
