Description

Visit Wasini Island which lies in the southeast of Kenya, board an Arabic dhow and see dolphins in the water. Sail to the Kisite Marine National Park to participate in snorkelling activities. Meet with the Swahili people and learn about their struggles when they were slaves in the hands of Arab traders.

Itinerary

Kisite Marine National Park & Wasini Island
- Get picked up by a Kenyan guide at around 7:15 am from your resort and drive along Mombasa Lunga Lunga highway, a distance of 100 km.
- Arrive at around 8:30 am at Shimoni Jet where you will board an Arabic dhow and sail for one hour searching for dolphins.
- Sail to Kisite Marine National Park where you will snorkel and swim.
- Have lunch at a restaurant in Wasini Island that will mainly consist of seafood and Swahili dishes.
- Sail along the mangrove swamps.
- Visit Wasini Island where you will learn more about the Swahili people and Arab history.
- Return to the jet at 4:00 pm and drive back to the hotel.

Kisite Marine National Park is the second most famous marine park in the world after the Australian Marine Park. It covers an area of 302 km. Animals seen here include turtles, marine tortoises, bear reefs, coral reefs and different types of marine fishes.

In the 10th century, Arabs were slave traders and they used to marry the Bantus at the coast and they started to be called Swahili people. After the end of the slave trade in the 17th century, many Africans settled here and so don’t miss the opportunity to learn about the Swahili people.
