Itinerary

1. Day 1: Sandakan Airport or Hotel in Sandakan/Sandakan Jetty - Lankayan Island Dive Resort - Overnight (L,D)

   • Get picked up by your Malaysian tour guide from the airport or the hotel.

   • Transfer to Sandakan Jetty for a boat tour.

   • Get done with the registrations and hop on the boat for the tour, for 1 hour & 45 minutes.

   • Arrive at Lankayan Island and proceed to check in to your room. 

   • Enjoy a relaxing afternoon on the beach.

   • Then, have your meal at the hotel.

   Dinner & overnight in the hotel.

2. Day 2: Lankayan Island Dive Resort - Overnight (B,L,D)

   • Today get started with your diving lessons at the Lankayan Dive Centre.

   • After some lessons, divers will have three boat dives daily, and unlimited house reef dives in front of Lankayan Dive Centre (not guided, so please find your buddy to dive with). 

   • Non-divers will be free for the entire day. So, they can enjoy swimming, snorkelling and ocean kayaking.

3. Day 3: Lankayan Dive Centre - Sandakan Jetty - City Tour - Hotel in Sandakan - Overnight (B,L,D)

   • After an early breakfast in the resort, check-out from Lankayan and transfer to the jetty, followed by overland transfer to Sandakan Jetty.

   • Upon arrival, get picked up by your Sandakan tour guide and head to explore the city's various landmarks.

   • Visit St. Michael Church, Sandakan Heritage Museum, and Central Market, where you will find the most fantastic variety of fresh seafood and agricultural products.

   • Then, visit Sim-Sim Water Village, where houses are built close to the water surface, offering a fascinating sea view.

   • Visit the Puu Jih Shih Buddhist Temple, which is situated on the hilltop of Tanah Merah that offers a panoramic view of Sandakan Bay; Agnes Keith House, where the books Land Below the Wind and White Man Returns were written in the house. Today the house is a heritage museum providing an exciting insight into life during the British colonial period in North Borneo.

   • After that, proceed for lunch.

   • Later, transfer to the hotel.

   Overnight at the hotel.

4. Day 4: Hotel - Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre - Bornean Sun Bear Centre - Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary - Rainforest Discovery Centre - Hotel in Sandakan/Sandakan Airport (B,L)

   • Today, visit the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, where orphaned and injured Orangutans are brought to be rehabilitated and taught how to fend for themselves back in the wild. Sepilok is a primary low land forest and a fine showcase of Borneo’s remaining rainforests.

   • Continue to Sabah’s first Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC) and get an opportunity to view the world’s most miniature bear. Mr Wong Siew founded the Conservation Centre in collaboration with the Sabah Wildlife Department, Sabah Forestry Department and Land Empowerment Animals People (LEAP), a non-government organization set up to prevent the endangered bear from becoming extinct. 

   • After lunch, visit the Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC) to discover the uniqueness of Borneo’s rainforests. The RDC’s main highlights are its exhibition halls, the Plant Discovery Garden and the Rainforest Walk. You may enjoy practising your balancing skills by crossing a short suspension bridge. 

   • Proceed to the exhibition hall, which has a great deal of information about nature, wildlife and other exciting things with your local Sandakan tour guide.

   • Walk around the Plant Discovery Garden.

   • Next, move to Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary and see the Proboscis monkeys from reasonable proximity, along with Silver Leaf Langurs, Pig-Tailed Macaques, Oriental Pied Hornbills and Kingfishers.

   • Transfer to hotel or Sandakan Airport.
