Itinerary
-
Day 1: Hanoi to Ha Giang and a motorbike ride
Once you arrive in Ha Giang City, rent a motorbike (rental fee included in the experience price) and go on a trip and motorbike briefing before you set off to Nam Dam village. You will be accompanied by a local Vietnamese guide who will show you the way. The 45km drive is stunning, passing through traditional villages, beautiful valleys, and climbing mountains.
Along the journey, make plenty of stops to take pictures and rest. Stop at the Fairy Bosom hills in Quan Ba and a geopark recognized by UNESCO.
Spend the night in Nam Dam village with a host family.
You will have the afternoon and evening to explore the village, go for a hike, help our host family prepare dinner, or just relax. Dinner includes local rice or corn wine also called "happy water."
-
Day 2: Visit Lung Khuy Cave and North Point
After breakfast at the homestay, prepare the bikes and then set off for the next part of your adventure.
Climb to Lung Khuy Cave at the top of a mountain for an amazing view and some cave exploring.
Stop by one of the many picturesque villages you pass through today, called Lung Tam. It's a Hemp Linen making village where you will watch how Hemp Linen is made. Try your hand at rolling out the cloth—you'll be surprised how much balance and strength it takes!
After passing through a shortcut over a mountain, stop in Yen Minh for lunch.
After lunch, continue to a guest favourite 50km towards the border between Vietnam and China, to check out the Extreme North Point. It is highly recommended that you plan your trip to pass through Dong Van on Sunday when the villagers host their weekly highland market. It's not only a chance for locals to buy and sell goods and livestock but it's highly anticipated as a weekly social gathering.
After hot steam and a massage, dinner will again include lots of 'happy water' if you are of drinking age and wish to partake.
-
Day 3: Ma Pi Leng Pass Drive and Waterfall Swimming
Setting off after breakfast, enjoy the most soothing part of the region. Proceed to the most beautiful pass in Vietnam, Ma Pi Leng. Another place where you can take amazing photos.
Stop in Mau Due for a coffee. This is the start of something your guide calls the "road of children." You'll see many minority children playing by the side of the road while their parents are working alongside the rocks.
Have lunch in a tiny village called Du Gia, and (depending on the weather) go for a swim in a hidden waterfall.
After the swim, it's time to return to Ha Giang city to enjoy a farewell dinner with local specialities and get some much-needed rest before the van journey back to Hanoi.
-
Day 4: Depart for Hanoi
After breakfast at the hostel (bright and early), hop in the van back to Hanoi. The van departs at 7 am and will bring you back to the Old Quarter in Hanoi around 1 or 1:30 pm.
