Itinerary

1. Day 1: Sandakan Airport - Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary

   • Get picked up by car or coach and transfer to the Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary, situated in the centre of the mangrove forest in about 400 acres along with the coastal land near Samawang Village.

   • Visit one of the platforms to view the Proboscis monkeys in reasonable proximity. You may also be lucky and have a chance to see Silver Leaf Langurs, Pig-Tailed Macaques, Oriental Pied Hornbills and Kingfishers.

   • After the tour, your Sandakan guide will transfer you to a hotel.

   Overnight.

2. Day 2: Deramakot Forest Reserve (L,D)

   • Be picked up by 4WD for a long drive (about 4 to 5hrs) on a mix of paved and gravel roads and be surrounded by oil palm plantation until eventually, you reach the gate of Deramakot Forest Reserve.

   • Arrive at the lodge, proceed to check in and have lunch.

   • Now, enjoy your free time.

   • Relish dinner.

   • Prepare for your adventure for a night drive, searching for nocturnal wildlife such as the rare Clouded Leopard. Please note that the night safari duration can be longer, depending on spotting the animals.

   • Back to the lodge.

   Overnight.

3. Day 3: Deramakot Forest Reserve (B,L,D)

   • Wake up in the morning, enjoy your coffee or tea and get ready for your morning drive searching for wildlife such as gibbon and other animals. 

   • Back to the resort to have breakfast. You are now free to lounge around.

   • After an hour, get ready for your next adventure - Jungle Trekking for about 2hrs along the trail in search of wildlife to add more to the list in your notebook. 

   • Return to the resort and get ready for your lunch. Enjoy some free time.

   • After an hour, go on an afternoon drive along the way to Balat, which is situated about 33 km from the lodge and is just on the side of the mighty Kinabatangan river. Along the journey, you might see wildlife such as the wild orangutan.

   • Have a simple dinner while on the drive back to the lodge. During the way, you might spot nocturnal animals.

   • Return to the lodge and enjoy free time at leisure.  

   Overnight. 

4. Day 4: Deramakot Forest Reserve (B,L,D)

   • Wake up early in the morning, enjoy your coffee or tea and be ready for your morning walk in search of wildlife and birds.

   • Return to the lodge to have breakfast. Enjoy some free time at leisure.

   • One hour after lunch, set out for the trek along Domingo’s trail. It is a pathway to give you a message about forest management.

   • Return to the lodge and get ready for your dinner. Enjoy some free time at leisure. 

   • After an hour, set out in search of nocturnal animals.

   • Return to the lodge, enjoy some free time at leisure. 

   Overnight.

5. Day 5: Deramakot Forest Reserve - Sandakan Airport or Hotel in Sandakan (B,L))

   • Wake early up in the morning for another morning drive in search of wildlife. 

   • Return to the lodge, check-out, and head back to Sandakan Airport or hotel in Sandakan. 

   End of services.
