Description
Explore the four ecological zones bordered by the Great Himalayan National Park, encompassing an enormous range of wildlife species. Visit the remotest villages, dramatic and beautiful landscapes and much more on this 6-day trek to Shangarh! Catch spellbinding views of the surrounding areas and enjoy bonfires and dinners in camps. With incredible luck, you might also get to see the elusive Western Tragopan bird while birdwatching!
Itinerary

Day 1: Aut - Sainj - Neuli - Chengah
- Early morning arrival at Aut tunnel in Volvo.
- Transfer to Sainj Rest House for freshening up and pre-trek preparations.
- Onwards trek to Chengah camp Site in the Sainj Valley Wildlife Sanctuary.
- Bird watching trail.
- Evening bonfire dinner and stay at Chengah in tents.

Aut to Sainj: 1 and a half hour
Sainj to Neuli: 1 hour
Neuli to Chengah: 3 hours (8 km)

Day 2: Shakti
- On the first long day, you have a moderate ascent to Shakti, which acclimatizes the trekkers for the trek.
- Cover a distance of almost 14 Kms going along the Sainj Nala on to Shakti at 2100 meters.
Overnight stay at Shakti in Trekkers hut.

Day 3: Humkhani
- Shakti Village to Lapah campsite (2800 meters) at lower meadow bridge in Humkhani forest. This forest is home to the endangered king of the birds the Western Tragopan (Jujurana).
Overnight stay in camps.

Day 4: Lapah to Shangrah Campsite
- Climb uphill through a thick forest to the magnificent Shangarh Thatch. The thatch is a beautiful high and wide meadow. There are great mountain vistas and opportunities for observing wildlife.
- The trek halts here for a rest day to explore the wildlife and the surroundings.
Overnight stay in camp.

Day 5: Shangarh to Neuli
Shangarh Village visit and onwards to Neuli for catching a cab to Sai Ropa Tourist Center. Our day hikes would be spent on decent through dense forest, walnut trees, medicinal herbs, etc.
Visit the Jogni (outdoor prayer site) to have a magnificent view of the peaks of the GHNP.
Once back at Neuli, catch the cabs onwards to Sairopa Forest Rest House where we relax, have a presentation on GHNP, meet with the Director of the Park and chill out over a Nati dance performed by the Kala Jatha.

Day 6: Biodiversity Trail, Rest & Departure
In the morning, visit the Biodiversity trail.
Take the rest of the day to explore the Tirthan Valley.
Evening departure by Volvo Bus to Delhi.
One can also stay overnight and leave for the airport in the morning.
