Itinerary

Explore the Kost Castle
- Travel from Sobotka to the village Vesec, a declared rural conservation area that includes 18 log houses, and head to the romantic rocky valley of Plakánek, surrounded by pine forests and is known for several sandstone quarries. Reach a breathtaking location close by with its ancient sand rock mountains.
- Visit the Kost Castle, one of the best-preserved Czech castles from the late gothic period and see some exciting things such as a medieval torturing room or a strange window, as well as a peculiar Madonna. The Castle is located in a magical landscape of forests, and sandstone rocks, rightly called the Bohemian Paradise due to its outstanding natural beauty. Also, visit the beautiful Nabokov Pond in the Czech Paradise Park if time permits.
- Enjoy lunch with the main course and a drink, included in the trip, at a traditional restaurant, with the best local beers and micro-brews. On the way back, pass through the unique baroque architectural delight of Humprecht Chateau.
- Meet in the morning at the Prague departure point and return to Prague, filled with experiences, just in time for dinner in the evening.

Know Before You Go

Even if you're not a regular hiker but are keen to get a taste of the Czech countryside, you do need to be reasonably fit for a hike with Czech Adventure, as hill climbs come with the territory. Your guide will make sure you are comfortable with the pace and stop as often as needed. The philosophy is to slow down and appreciate the beauty of nature

The single important thing is to wear comfortable hiking boots or sports shoes suitable for a walk. The ground can be uneven and high heels are absolutely a no-go for the trip. While you need no special hiking clothing or equipment, it is recommended you do bring sunscreen and a hat for the sunny weather or a rain jacket for wet weather. Additionally, pack an extra layer if it is cold

This is a very personalised trip based on the guide's own experiences that they want to share. The guests can expect a lot of individual attention with advice on clothing, weather, pack, and fitness levels before the trip. Also, the Czech tour guide will be ensuring your safety and welfare during the hike and the entire trip, as well as helping you with any translations needed when ordering lunch or buying gifts. Currently, the choice of vegetarian/vegan food in the Czech countryside is not comprehensive. However, there is a limited option for vegetarian meals like grilled cheese, grilled vegetables, fried potatoes, risotto etc. The tour operators find it is appropriate always to advise guests that if they are concerned about this, to bring some suitable snack/food with them in case of non-availability of their dietary needs

Plakánek means "the crying one", and there is a legend where many people were crying and mourning in this valley, a girl cried here as she left her beloved
