Itinerary

Whales & The Princess Ring Islet
- Meet the tour guide at the Marina of Vila Franca do Campo for check-in at the specified time. Start the day with a short informative briefing introducing you to Cetaceans (Whales and Dolphins), local species, natural habitat, communication, migration, behavioural patterns, and onboard safety.
- Follow your Portugal tour guide and Skipper to their designated boat for a Whale Watching tour. The lookout high inland will locate your friends and provide directions via VHF Radio. The boat will initially travel at high speed while approaching your friends; your guide will keep you informed.
- At 11:30, return to the Marina for a local food lunch at a local seafront village restaurant - at walking distance from the Base.
- Meet the guide at the Marina. Enjoy snorkelling and explore the natural reserve of Princess Ring outside the Marina of Vila Franca do Campo, perfect for exploring, bathing, swimming, and snorkelling.
- Depart back to the Marina. Meet the guide at the Base for check-out and head back to the hotel.

Know before you go:

Eat light, and bring your personal water supply, swimsuit, towel and warm clothing, sunscreen and chapstick for the Sun.

Light food is permitted onboard, and a Camera is essential, especially for photography lovers. Please protect any electronics and personal equipment.

This tour is inappropriate and inadvisable for anyone pregnant, with a weak back, in a wheelchair, in delicate health condition, or children under 4.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THAT: Although our data shows a 98% spotting chance for cetaceans in an average of 3 species per tour, 4 resident species (including Sperm Whales) from up to 28 sighted in a year, and even though we only go out by indication from an inland high lookout, it is not possible to control their behaviour or to guarantee that you will see specifically Whales or any other species at a specific time frame.

At the Islet, all individuals are responsible for complying with the natural reserve’s rules.

Booking Policy :

The minimum age is 4, and children up to 13 must be accompanied by at least one adult.

Primary First Name, Last Name, and Email Address are required on all bookings. A Phone Number is recommended for last-minute changes.

Cancellation Policy

Should you need to reschedule with more than 24 hours notice, rescheduling is free of charge.

Should you cancel less than 24 hours before departure time or not show up at the designated time, you will be fully charged.

Directions:

From Ponta Delgada city center by auto, head east along the coast and follow directions to Vila Franca do Campo. Once in Vila Franca do Campo, descend towards sea level and the Marina where our Base and Boats are stationed, and Free Parking can be found.
