Itinerary

Day1: Mekele to Hamedela
Start your journey from the small town of Berhale where the camel caravan stops before they proceed to the northern highlands.
Along your way, you may see many long camel caravans taking salt from the Danakil.
Drive to reach Hamad Ela, a village to enjoy the sunset at Dallol.
Stay overnight camping at Hamed Ela.

Day 2: Dallol to Assal Lake
Go on a morning tour drive to Ragad (Asebo), the place salt mining takes place.
Look at the activity of breaking the salt from the ground, cutting it into rectangular pieces and loading it on camels.
Proceed ahead to Dallol and visit the extreme landscape formed by volcanic activities: Dallol, Lake Assal, camel caravans.
Excursion to Dallol, (116 meters below sea level, one of the lowest places in the world) for colourful salt mining.
Visit Lake Assal, and follow up camel caravans to meet the Afar people.
Drive back to Hamed Ela and proceed to Mekele.
