Addis Ababa City Highlights
- Meet your tour guide at a pre-decided location and set out on an early morning drive to Entoto Hill.
Enjoy spectacular views on the way up to the hill as you pass small villages and highlands growth. Smell the aroma of the eucalyptus trees which line the road and feel the drop in temperature as you rise up to altitudes of 3,200-metres above sea level. Behold a panoramic view of the city from Mount Entoto and explore the nearby churches.
- Shop for clothes and crafts at the local Shiro Meda market.
- Explore the National Archaeological Museum. See the 3.2 million-year-old bones of Lucy and observe a rich collection of insignia of the emperor and churches
- Proceed to the Holy Trinity Cathedral, one of the most important churches of Addis Ababa, and visit the museum nearby.
- Stop by the Ethnographical Museum, located in the Addis Ababa University campus, and observe a fascinating collection of crosses, icons and folklore instruments.
- Make your way to St. George’s Cathedral, located in the heart of the city and one of the most well-recognized places of worship &icons of Addis Ababa. Inside the church, you can walk in a circle around the cathedral, observing an incredible set of paintings portraying both scenes from the Bible and Ethiopian history.
- After lunch, visit the Derg Monuments, memorials to Ethiopian and Cuban soldiers who served in the Ogaden War. Observe the statue of the lion of Judah, in front of the old railway station nearby.
Stroll through Meskel Square and visit the Red Terror Martyrs' Museum. Learn about the heartbreaking Red Terror and its impacts on the Ethiopian people.
