A Day In Pernik
- Meet the tour guide at 9.00 a.m. and head to the town of Radomir. The town of Radomir is situated in Pernik District (South-West Bulgaria ) at the west foot of the Golo Bardo mountain, some 13 km away from the town of Pernik.
- Stop near the Pchelina Dam (Lobosh in the past), 68 km from Sofia, one of the largest in Southwestern Bulgaria.
- Visit St. Ioan Letni Chapel on Pchelina Dam, one of the many abandoned chapels in Bulgaria. It was built in 1350, the 14th century. This small whitewashed Orthodox Church is perched on top of the rocky hill overlooking Pchelina Dam. The view from above standing on the top of the cliff is marvellous and breathtaking.
- Head to the Zemen Monastery. The distance between Pchelina Dam and the town of Zemen is 14 km.
- Have lunch in the monastery with traditional Bulgarian soups and barbeque (if it is a weekend).
- On weekdays, have lunch in a pub named “Kalenata pivnitza”.
- Proceed to the Shegava’s river canyon. Shegava is a deep canyon in the Konyavo Mountains at the beginning of the Zemen gorge, near Razhdavitsa village.
- Return to Sofia by 18:30.
