Itinerary

1. Day 1 : Tunxi Arrival

   • Arrive in Tunxi - the downtown of Huangshan city. Meet the guide and transfer to your hotel.

2. Day 2 : Tunxi--Huangshan Scenic Area (B, L, D)

   • Take a bus ride to Mt. Huangshan Scenic Area and take the Yuping Cable-car up the Mountain from the western side. 

   • Embark on a three-and-half-hour hike to the fantastic views, including the Jade Screen Peak. See the guest Pine Tree, Lotus Peak, Turtle Peak, Heavenly Sea Pavilion, Bright Top Peak, the Flying-over Rock, the Cloud-dispelling Pavilion and Grand Canyon of the West Sea.

   Overnight up in the mountain

3. Day 3 : Huangshan Scenic Area--Yixian County--Tunxi

   • Watch the sunrise and proceed to enjoy views of the Lion's Peak, where the "Stone Monkey" is perched.

   • See the Beginning-to-Believe Peak before descending the Mountain by Yungu Cable-car on the eastern steps. 

   • Take a bus ride to Yixian County - a place renowned as the Eden Garden on earth.

   • Visit the villages of Hongcun and Nanping. They are regarded, by many western scholars and experts, as living museums of Chinese traditional residential houses. The Oscar-awarded movie "Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon" was filmed in Hongcun Village. "Judou", another famous movie directed by Zhang Yimou and starring Gong Li, was produced in Nanping Village.

   • Return to Tunxi in the later afternoon.

4. Day 4 : Tunxi--Shexian--Tunxi

   • Spend time visiting Shexian, a county well known for its long history and rich cultural legacy.

   • See the unique Xuguo Archway with eight pillars and splendid craftsmanship. 

   • Go to Doushan Street, which is a small zigzag alley downtown.

   • Travel to Tangmo Water Village and Tangyue Archway Complex - a group of seven arches built by the Ming and Qing dynasties and erected in order of loyalty, filial piety, chastity and righteousness. The Complex is the only one found in China now.

   • Back to Tunxi in the afternoon.

   After dinner, we can arrange a performance of the local Huangmei opera if available for the day. (Fee for tickets to be paid by the traveller)

5. Day 5 : City tour--Departure after Breakfast

   • Take a leisurely trip to Old Street, the best-preserved ancient street in China built by the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It was originally the centre of the old town section. 

   • Pay a visit to Wancui Mansion - a private museum with a lot of valuables. 

   • Go to the unique Hukaiwen Ink Stick Factory where Ink Stick, one of the Four Treasures of Study for ancient scholars, is produced. 

   • Visit the Huangshan Municipal Museum, which collects many precious cultural and historical relics.

   • Departure in the afternoon or evening.
