Caves and Elephant Sanctuary Visit in Kuala Lumpur
0900 hrs: Depart for the Elephant Conservation Centre with the Kuala Lumpur guide.
En route, stop by Batu Caves - A limestone outcrop; the 272 steps climb into the Cave, as it takes us to the Temple of Lord Subramaniam, aka Lord Murugan. He is worshipped especially during the Hindu Festival of Thaipusam in January or February every year; the 140 feet statue of the Deity is mesmerizing. (Note: Decent attire is mandatory for ladies to enter the Temple.)
1200 hrs: Upon arrival at the Elephant Conservation Center, eat a Malaysian lunch.
1300 hrs: Watch a video presentation on the capture and translocation of rogue and orphaned elephants. The Center tracks down, knock out with tranquillizer darts, and use trained elephants to bring them to the Center for rehabilitation. They are later returned into the deep jungle - their home.
1400 hrs: Attend a briefing, feeding and feeling the time of the Gentle Giants. (Please bring along extra clothes to change en route.)
1600 hrs: Return transfer to Kuala Lumpur, arriving approx.
1800hrs. End of Tour.
