Itinerary
-
Day 1: Ifrane - Azrou - Erg Chebbi Dunes
Begin at 8:00 am with pickup from your place of stay with your Moroccan tour guide.
You will depart to Merzouga to see the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. This journey will include a stop at Ifrane, a city in the Middle Atlas region. Often called "Morocco's Switzerland", this place is a must-visit for its alpine-style architecture and nearby ski slopes and forests.
Then, head to the Azrou cedar forest in the Middle Atlas Mountains, where you can feed monkeys in their natural habitat. The route will continue until you reach the main Saharan town of Rissani.
Dinner and overnight stay will be at a hotel or Kasbah (fortress), situated at the foot of the sand dunes, to chill out. You can rest by listening to some traditional Berber music before going to sleep.
-
Day 2: Erg Chebbi Dunes
In the morning, you can enjoy some sandboarding and hiking in the big dunes of Erg Chebbi.
Cool off with a swim in the hotel pool, or use the free WIFI in the restaurant area.
During sunset, your camel will be waiting to take you on an amazing journey into the desert.
You will spend the night in a tent in a Berber camp surrounded by towering sand dunes, where your guide will cook an authentic Moroccan meal.
Relax, listen to some traditional Berber music, and rest under starry skies in this sand dune desert.
-
Day 3: Rissani - Erfoud - Todra Gorges
Wake up to a spectacular sunrise over the dunes and ride your camel back to the hotel, where you will have breakfast.
Then drive to nearby Rissani town.
Afterwards, you'll head to Erfoud, an oasis town in the Sahara desert. In the nearby areas, you can see sights of varied rock and fossil formations.
Your journey will then continue onto Todgha Gorges, which is a series of limestone river canyons situated near Tinghir town. Explore hiking options here.
Overnight stay in Todgha Gorges.
-
Day 4: Dades Valley - Skoura - Kasbah Taourirt - Ouarzazate
Your next stop will be in the mountains of Dades Valley.
This will be followed by a visit to Kalaat M'Gouna, a Berber city that celebrates the festival of roses every year in mid-May. It is an opportunity for locals to meet and sell their various products made from roses, including rose water.
Then, you will arrive at Skoura, a fertile oasis lined with immense palm groves with great views of the Atlas Mountains.
Next, you will visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, one of the most attractive and beautiful sites in southern Morocco.
Dinner and overnight stay in Ouarzazate.
