Revel In The Beauty Of Angkor Temples
Start your day at 5:00 am, travel to the world’s biggest religious monument, the Angkor Wat temple, which is also a UNESCO world heritage site. You will love watching the sun rise over the golden temple, and the entire experience is unforgettable.
Explore the vast grounds of Angkor Wat temple.
Head back to town or back to your hotel for breakfast, before continuing the tour.
Escorted to the Southern Gate of Angkor Thom, the temple complex that served as the longest and most resilient capital of the Khmer Empire. The name itself translates to Great City, and the site of the complex spans for several square kilometers. The buildings are constructed from laterite and sandstone.
Arrive at the Bayon, an ancient temple. The most vaulted feature of this particular monument is the presence of numerous smiling faces that have been carved onto its towers as well as its upper tower.
Continue to Ta Prohm, this one is a ruin, thanks to all the time that has passed, and numerous trees and shrubs can be seen in and around the temple. This makes it a gorgeous site to photograph, thanks to the contrast of the ancient stone and the freshness of the greenery.
Stop for lunch somewhere near the temple.
Travel to Banteay Srey, made of red sandstone, has quite a few gorgeous carvings. The temple is otherwise called as the jewel of the Khmer empire’s constructions. This is thanks to its smaller, miniaturized buildings. Though similar in style and shape to the Angkor temples, these buildings have been shrunk.
Visit Banteay Samre next, this is a stunning temple and one of the most popular on the tourist trail.
Go on to Pre Rup, a mountainous temple which is notable for the funerals that were conducted here. The temple itself was made out of laterite, sandstone and brick. There are two long galleries which run next to each side of the temple, as well as a squared pyramid inside with 3 tiers.
Watch the sunset from this temple, before you return to your hotel.
