Itinerary
-
Day 1: Yangon to Kyaikhtiyo
Pick-up from your hotel in Yangon at around 07:00 AM and drive for 6 hours to Kyaikhtiyo.
Enjoy a local lunch en-route and resume drive.
Arrive in Kinpun Base Camp at Kyaikhtiyo; this is the furthest a vehicle can go here.
- Take a truck ride up the steep track towards Yathae Hill.
- Hike for 1 hour to the summit where the Golden Rock awaits. This is a gilded boulder perched precariously on the edge of a hill over 3,615 feet above sea level. Though a test of one’s endurance, reaching the summit is very exhilarating. Those who are unable, or prefer not to walk, can use porters and palanquins to get to the top.
Enjoy dinner and overnight stay at your hotel in Kyaikhtiyo.
-
Day 2: Kyaikhtiyo to Bago
Enjoy the beautiful sunrise from the hilltop and have breakfast at the hotel.
Drive to Bago, the ancient capital of Mon and its famous pagodas.
Visit the Mon-style Shwemawdaw Pagoda which at a height of 114 metres is even higher than Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon. It is Bago’s most outstanding religious monument. Continue to view the 55m long reclining Shwethalyaung Buddha.
In the late afternoon, set out on the return journey to Yangon.
En route, visit the cemetery of allies and war graves around Htuk Kyan.
Arrive at Yangon and transfer to your hotel.
