Hike Through Wadi Makhrour
Begin trekking through Wadi Makhrour covering both natural and agricultural landscapes. In 2014, the ancient terraces of Battir were inscribed under the name “Cultural Landscape of Southern Jerusalem.” The nomination attracted great attention to the village, which became one of the most visited places in Palestine for natural recreation.
Encounter ancient Roman tombs cut in the wadi’s grey-brown rocks. One of the tombs was dug in a great rock that clearly was chipped off the nearby cliff and rolled down to the valley.
Stop for lunch or dinner in a restaurant overlooking the ancient agricultural terraces.
