Description

Go on this short 3-day trek to the summit of the magnificent Sembalun and Senaru Crater Rims. Pass through open grasslands and enjoy scenic views of the sunset and the gorgeous Segara Anak Lake, and reach the summit at the time of a magical sunrise. Take a refreshing dip in the hot springs and end this experience with camping on the Crater Rim under the starry sky.

Itinerary

Day 1- Trekking Rinjani
- After an early breakfast, depart Senaru and travel by a 4WD vehicle to Sembalun.
- Get registered at Rinjani Trek Centre in Sembalun (1,156 meters) before commencing the trek. The trail initially passes through undulating open grasslands as it winds up the mountain. Stop at Pos 1 and Pos 2 for rest breaks and snacks.
- At Pos 3 (1,800 m), stop for a longer break for lunch. After lunch, begin the steep climb up to the crater rim.
- Enjoy a camp stay for the night at Sembalun Crater Rim (2,639 m) and be the witness to some fantastic views of the sunset, Lake Segara Anak, the summit of Mount Rinjani and northern Lombok.
Day 2- Trekking to the Crater Rim Summit
- Wake up at 03:00 am for a light breakfast before commencing a challenging three-hour trek to the summit (3,726 meters). Arrive on time for sunrise, which is the best time to enjoy the views of the surrounding natural beauty.
- Thereafter, return to the campsite on the crater rim. En route, pause for a hot breakfast and get some rest before continuing our descent.
- Have lunch on the shore of Lake Segara Anak (2,000 meters) where you can also take a dip in the hot springs. After lunch, continue the trek around the lakeshore before climbing out of the crater. The trail is steep and rocky and passes through dense forest.
- Upon arrival at the Senaru Crater Rim (2,641 m), stop for dinner and camp for the night. The crater rim offers views of Gunung Baru, Mount Agung in Bali and the Gili Islands.
Day 3- Departure
- After breakfast, commence the descent. Halt at the same rest spots for lunch and other short breaks: Pos 3, Pos 2 and Pos 1.
- Arrive in Senaru (601 meters) at approximately 1:30 pm, from where you will be transferred to your next destination.
