Description

Take a guided archaeological tour to the Taxila city where the civilization of Gandhara exists. There cannot be a better place to know about it, than the famous Taxila Museum, which has a good collection of stone Buddhist sculptures that were discovered from Taxila during the archaeological work.

Itinerary

Visit A Museum In The Home Of Gandhara Civilization
- Pick up from the hotel and drive through the GT road.
- After crossing Margalla Hills, turn left from Taxila bypass at Khanpur Lake road about 4 km there is Taxila Museum.
- Visit the site museum where the collections of Gandhara art are placed. These are about 600BC - 700BC old.
- Proceed towards the two beautiful & well-maintained gardens attached to the museum’s building. Visitors can relax and enjoy the natural environment and weather.

Gandhara Art:

The museum has a collection of stone-carved Buddhist sculpture. These were all discovered from Taxila during the archaeological work. Local people adopted Gandhara art as home industry and made some Buddhist stupas and statues from stones, as Taxila is famous for its stonework.
