Reggia of Caserta - The Royal Palace Tour
Arrive at the palace premises, and proceed to explore the area. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997, the Royal Palace of Caserta was built by the Bourbon king Charles III to rival the Palace of Versailles and Royal Palace in Madrid. Covering 5 floors, the palace boasts no less than 1200 rooms of increasing grandeur. Over the years, the palace has been used as a filming location in a number of movies, including “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace,” “Angels and Demons,” and the Robert Mitchum war movie “Anzio.”
Marvel at the broad sweep of its design in different rooms, such as the Throne Room and Grand Staircase.
