Drive from Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park for about 4 hours.
After a picnic lunch in Manyara, begin a late afternoon game drive, which is the best time to view animals in this park.
When you approach from the east, the Rift Valley escarpment looms on the horizon, forming an impressive backdrop to the lake. In the tall trees of the groundwater forest, monkeys leap from branch to branch, while elephants stand in the shade along the escarpment. Other animals frequently seen here include zebras, impalas, monkeys, giraffes, buffalos, hippos, and more.
Overnight at a hotel around Karatu or Mto wa Mbu, or at Lake Manyara Wildlife Lodge.
After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive inside the crater. This is the best place in Tanzania to see black rhino, as well as prides of lion that include the magnificent black-maned males. Drive from Ngorongoro Wild Camp to Lake Eyasi.

The migration's most dramatic moments often occur when large numbers of wildebeest and zebra make river crossings, during which they must elude predators in a desperate fight for survival. There is no telling exactly when these highly dramatic movements will occur, but all safari-goers are sure to see plenty of wildebeest and zebra while in Tanzania.
Tarangire Park is spectacular in the dry season, when many of the migratory wildlife species return to the permanent waters of the Tarangire River. Huge herds of wildebeest, zebras, elephants, elands, and Oryx gather in Tarangire until the onset of the rains, when they migrate again to good grazing areas.
