Day 1: Cape Town - Paarl City Tour
You will be picked up by our guide from Cape Town. Start driving towards the Paarl city, famous for its wine industry, to see the Paarl granite rock. Continue to see the famous Huguenot toll tunnel at Worcester town which was founded in 1820. The town boasts neo-classical influences and is now an important training centre for disabled people.
Next, travel to Robertson town. It is famous for its ostrich farming, viticulture and fruit production. Some Victorian-style museums, buildings, and a pink church can be seen here.
Proceed to the Montagu town to see the radioactive hot springs and the beautiful 'folded' mountains. After this, you will enter the semi-desert Karoo region, known for its succulents, fossils, and mountain leopards.
The next stop is at Barrydale town, located on the boundary of the Overberg and Klein Karoo. This charming town offers breath-taking views of the surrounding mountains where you can relax and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
In the early afternoon, you will travel towards Oudtshoorn on route 62 via Ladismith and Calitzdorp. Surrounded by stunning scenery, you will pass through the quiet little town of Calitzdorp, known as the port wine capital of South Africa.
Upon arrival in Oudtshoorn, visit an ostrich farm where you will know how the flightless birds have brought fame and wealth to the town, which is also referred to as 'the ostrich capital of the world' since its founding in 1847. Here, you can view the famous opulent 'feather palaces' or houses that belonged to the first ostrich breeders, who made their fortune from the feathers of these birds. These birds are also raised for their meat, eggs, feathers, and leather.
Arrive at your guesthouse for a well-deserved break followed by dinner. You can try the ostrich steak at one of the local restaurants.

Day 2: Cango caves - Knysna Lagoon
In the morning, gear up to visit the Cango Caves, a series of underground tunnels and galleries with impressive limestone formations.
Next, take the road over the famous “Outeniqua Pass” which leads you to the Garden Route and welcomes you to Knysna town.
Arriving on the shores of the Indian Ocean, visit Victoria Bay, a small sandy cove framed by high cliffs and usually known as a surfer's paradise.
Have lunch while sitting on top of the rocks. Then, go for a relaxing sunset cruise on the Knysna lagoon followed by a short leisure walk and dinner at a Waterfront restaurant. You can taste some delicious oysters here.
Overnight at a luxurious Airbnb.

Day 3: Tsistikamma National Park
Before leaving the Knysna lagoon area, admire the view of the 'heads', which is formed by two cliffs creating a narrow passage at the entrance of the lagoon.
Next, you can head to Nature’s Valley, a haven amongst the forest with beautiful beaches. This area is one of South Africa’s best-kept secrets, boasting exceptional hiking trails and superb coastal scenery.
Continue to Tsitsikamma National Park for a walk amongst huge Yellowwood trees and cross the Storms River mouth via a suspension bridge to the beautiful scenery around. Enjoy a local lunch overlooking the mighty Indian Ocean.
On your way back, you can also stop at the famous Bloukrans Bridge, home to the world’s highest bungee jump. If interested, do bungee jumping here!
The next stop is Plettenberg Bay, a small chic tourist town with lagoons and great beaches for surfing, diving, and marine mammal boat cruises.
Return to Knysna for dinner at a restaurant of your choice and an overnight stay.
-
Day 4: Private Game Reserve
After breakfast, take the road to Mossel Bay (Bay of Mussels) and explore caves where the Xhoisan (Strandloper) sheltered in these middens and lived almost uniquely on the abundant marine life along the coast.
Visit the Bartolomeu Diaz Museum complex, followed by lunch and a private game reserve on a 4×4 safari with a professional ranger guide.
Have a delicious African buffet and stay the night at a lodge.
-
Day 5: Hermanus - Betty's bay
Start your day early with a 3-hour sunrise safari, followed by breakfast.
After breakfast, head back to Cape Town via Hermanus and Betty’s Bay. You will have lunch at Hermanus, a charming resort in Walker Bay, where you can view the whales which breed every year and come close to shore during the austral winter. Also, it is recommended that you take a cruise in the bay in order to observe these magnificent giants more closely.
Continue to the Stoney Point in Betty’s Bay, home to Africa’s larger and lesser-known penguin colony.
Finally, the last stretch of your journey is via Clarence Drive, a spectacularly scenic route, climbing around cliffs and hugging the wild turquoise Cape coastline where the sea is treacherous but perfect for an ocean sunset.
