Itinerary

1. Day 1: Nairobi to Aberdare Reedback Campsite

   • Departing your Nairobi hotel in the morning, we go North to Nyeri in central Kenya.

   • Arrive in Mweiga for lunch and meet our guide and porters before proceeding to the park HQ, where we finalize with park Authorities and pick up the security guards.

   • Drive into the forested eastern slopes of the Aberdare ranges for a short game drive looking for elephants, buffaloes, baboons, leopards, forest and warthogs, bongo, other antelopes, and bird species before driving higher up to the bamboo forest and then entering the moorland.

   • You will have a chance for waterfall exploration to see Chania, Queen's Cave and Karuru waterfalls before getting to our first night camp at Reedback Campsite (3,000m.) for dinner and overnight.

2. Day 2: Reedback Camp to Simba River Camp

   • After breakfast, we walk for 6-7 hours through the Moorland and Hagenia tree zones.

   • Lunch enroute to Simba River campsite for dinner and overnight.

   • You might encounter wildlife like elephants, buffaloes, antelopes and bird species on the way.

3. Day 3: Simba River Campsite to Wandare Road Junction

   • After breakfast, hike through different ecosystems to reach Wandare Road Junction campsite for dinner and overnight.
   • Lunch will be served en route.

4. Day 4: Junction Campsite to Ol Doinyo Satima to Nairobi/Other destination

   • After an early breakfast, you start the hike to the road end and then take the trail leading to the summit of the Aberdare Range to Oldonyo Lesatima 4001m.
   • This area will give you the best scenery of the Aberdare's top and other landscapes as far as Mt. Kenya Peaks to the East, and then return to the campsite where you will meet your transfer out of the mountain and proceed to the next destination.
