The National Archaeological Museum of Florence in the Palazzo della Crocetta was built by Julius Paris as the residence of Princess Maria Maddalena de Medici. Nowadays it keeps the important collections and historic items, for example, some masterpieces of funerary sculptures. Those were made of stone, the large bronze statue of Chimera, Arringatore and Minerva and Roman medallions. The museum keeps items from excavations in all of Tuscany. Important Etruscan and Roman remains, but also collections relative to other civilizations, for example, important Egyptian section and Greek vases, many of them found in Etruscan tombs, reflecting that there existed trades in the Mediterranean. There also are precious grave goods of the Etruscan aristocracy from the area between Populonia and Vulcano on display.
