Description
Explore the Sterkfontein Caves, a set of limestone caves located in Gauteng province, about 40 kilometres northwest of Johannesburg, South Africa, which has been excavated for more than 62 years in total. The recent discovery of the complete skeleton of ‘Little Foot’ shows ample testament to the wealth of information that is still to be gained from the cave deposits.

Arrive at the Sterkfontein caves.
Look for the first fossil of an ‘ape man’ skull believed to be 2.6 to 3 million years old, the nearly complete skull of a woman dubbed as ‘Mrs Ples’, found by Dr Robert Broom and the “Little Foot”, a 4.17 million-year-old almost complete ape-man skeleton.
Discover the fossil deposits dating back to almost 3.5 million years ago, providing a wealth of information about the different hominid species that has ever existed.
