The village of Żelazowa Wola lies about 60 km from Warsaw and about 2 km from Sochaczew. It is here that Frederic Chopin was born, and where the composer's museum is located in the Skarbek family mansion, where his parents, Justyna of the Krzyżanowski family and the French teacher Mikołaj Chopin, once lived in the left wing. Here, on 1 March 1810 - or 22 February 1810, according to some sources - Frederic Francis Chopin was born. The tour also includes the story of the first monument in the world dedicated to Chopin, unveiled in 1894, and a visit to Brochów Parish Church, where his parents were married on 2 June 1806 and where Chopin was baptized on Easter Sunday, 23 April 1810.

Żelazowa Wola and Brochów in Chopin's Footsteps

  • Hear the story of the first monument in the world dedicated to Chopin, unveiled in 1894. Also see the statue located in the park, with the medallion bearing Chopin's face, near the new bridge over the Utrata River.

  • Explore the Parish Church in Brochów, where on 2 June 1806 the wedding of the composer's parents, Mikołaj Chopin and Tekla Justyna Krzyżanowska, was solemnized. In the same church, on Easter Sunday, 23 April 1810, Frederic Francis Chopin was baptized.
