Limerick is Ireland’s third-biggest city and a city with a long history. Starting off as a Viking settlement it became one of Ireland’s most important cities in the medieval times, and became a key player in the Nine Years’ War. Limerick has a long and fascinating history and it is here where you can hear about toffee, pigs, princes and kings. It is a story about a stone with significance for the history of Ireland and the UK, a story of rugby and a story about a soviet uprising. Situated on Ireland’s largest river it was also a trading city and a strategic port. It is a fascinating and dynamic city.
