Description
Patan, formerly known as Lalitpur, is a renowned ancient city of art in the Kathmandu Valley. Hindu Malla Kings once ruled this Buddhist town in the medieval period. It is famous for metal craftsmanship, especially for masterpieces of Buddha statues and gods created by a traditional method called the 'Lost Wax Method', which has been appreciated by art lovers worldwide.
This live-streamed, interactive online experience will begin from Durbar Square, which is like an open museum. We will also see the towering Pagoda Temples, a historic stone water spout flowing since the 12th century, the ancient palace building with a golden gate and golden window, royal courtyards and some of the architectural wonders that have been recently restored after the 2015 earthquake.
Patan is a great place to learn about history, art, architecture and local life in a short span within a limited area. In the end, I will also tell you about the mouth-watering Newari cuisine of Patan.
