According to historians & archaeologists, Peshawar is around 4000 years old. Many rulers and dynasties - from Alexander the Great, the Hindu Shahis and the Kushans to the Mughals, the Sikhs, and the British - have presided over this city. Peshawar has been plundered many times but regained its vivacity each time; that is why it is recognised as the 'Oldest Living City' in South Asia. In this Online Experience, I will take you to some of the city's most important touristic spots. 

We will start with Mahabat Khan Mosque, which was constructed during the Mughal Dynasty. Its white marble facade is considered one of Peshawar's most iconic sights. Then, we will make our way to Hasting's Memorial or Chowk Yadgar Monument, which was originally built in 1883-84 in remembrance of Peshawar's first British Commissioner, Colonel E.C. Hastings. It was rebuilt in the second half of the 1960s to commemorate the heroes of the 1965 Indo-Pak War. 

Our next destination will be the Cunningham Clock Tower, constructed in commemoration of the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria. This tower is situated in the middle of the city, surrounded by narrow streets, an old fish market, and historic mansions. 

Finally, we will get to the Kapoor Haveli Museum on a narrow street called Dhaki Munawar Shah. It was constructed before the partition of India, between 1918 and 1922, by Dewan Basheswarnath Kapoor - the father of Prithviraj Kapoor, a pioneer of Indian theatre and the Hindi film industry.
