Description
You may have already seen the locality of Dharavi in the Oscar-winning movie Slumdog Millionaire; this live-streamed, interactive Online Experience will allow you to experience the sights and culture of Dharavi with a local host, all from the comfort of your homes!
We will begin the tour by stepping out to take a walk around the Dharavi slums. As we make progress, you will learn about the community’s rich history and how it became the pottery making hub in Mumbai. You will also get to see where the material for the same comes from, and how it is prepared. Your guide will also show you around the family business of Candle filling, from the filling of wax in different types of candles to packing them for supply, all of which happens indoors.
After our walk around the slum, we will make a visit to the guide's home, where we will learn to make Vada Pao; one of the most popular street foods in Mumbai; made with deep-fried potato dumplings placed inside halved pav buns and served with special chutneys and green chilli. This Maharashtrian delicacy is served in almost all hotels and roadside eateries in Mumbai. During this Online Experience, your guide and his wife will teach you how to prepare an authentic version with a recipe handed down from their mothers, guaranteed to be the tastiest of them all!
