Description
Join me on this interactive online experience to explore the Old Town of Kotor, a beautiful medieval city located in coastal Montenegro.
We will begin our tour from the Sea Gate, which serves as the main entrance to the Old Town. From here, you will be able to observe a plaque bearing a quote from the President of Yugoslavia, Josip Broz Tito. Heading towards the main square; which is the most popular meeting point amongst locals; we will see the Clock Tower, Napolean's Theatre, and the Dutch Palace. The latter is famous for featuring the longest balcony on the Adriatic Coast.
I will also take you to see the 200-year-old Hotel Vardar, which is a popular spot for locals to enjoy their morning coffee. We will also visit Flour Square, where the key attraction is the Pima Palace, designed in a heavy Baroque style. We will follow up this architectural delight with a visit to the most iconic symbol of Kotor - the St. Tryphon Cathedral. Along the way, I will tell you some interesting facts about this cathedral and its place in the culture and history of Kotor.
Next, we will see the Maritime Museum at the Boka Navy Square. We will also admire the Karampana Fountain, known as the perfect place in the town for some hearty gossiping, and visit the Orthodox Square along with the churches of Saint Nicholas and Saint Luca.
We will then make our way to the Catholic church of St. Clara and head towards our final destination in Cinema Square. The Cinema Square is home to two of the loveliest attractions in Kotor: the City Lapidarium with its vast stone collection; and the Cats Museum, which pays homage to cats throughout history and is sure to end the tour on a happy note.
