Coastal Slovenia’s largest town, Koper (Capodistria in Italian), is a well-concealed secret. At first glance, it appears to be a workaday port city that scarcely gives tourism a second thought. The first impression may be even more underwhelming as we see industrial areas and shopping malls on the outskirts. But Koper's central core is delightfully medieval and far less overrun than its ritzy cousin Piran.
On this virtual tour, we will start at Muda's Gate, which used to be the main entrance of the old town of Koper. Then, we proceed across Muda's square till the former Calegaria street, the main street of the old town. We will discover the picturesque Pretorian palace and the magnificent Mary's assumption cathedral on the main square.
Next, we will head to the Port of Koper, one of the biggest in the Mediterranean for cars and containers. Afterwards, we will visit the Carpaccio square and the Tavern, and then we will finish our tour with a stroll along the modern palm-trees promenade.
