Description
Join me on this interactive online campus tour of the University of Miami. Located in suburban South Florida, the University of Miami is a great location for students who love to explore the outdoors while still maintaining a reputation at a premier research institution. Founded in 1925 as a private college, the university covers an area of 239 acres. It has a total enrollment of 11,307 students from over 100 countries, with an 83% graduation rate which makes them a medium-sized tier 1 school with plenty of diversity.
For the most part, the university encourages living on campus for all freshmen. Students can choose from five residential areas of the campus that are modeled after the housing in England’s Oxford and Cambridge universities, incorporating communal areas for meals and arts among the housing campus to balance living and learning.
With a commitment to medical and artistic research, the university is home to a strong research program that begins at the undergraduate and over 290 clubs and organizations to join. With programs like Topple, a yearly career training convention that comes to the University of Miami fully equipped to assist students in everything from dressing for their given career and video-recorded mock interview sessions, the University prioritizes the goal to improve student’s chances for success.
As for the arts and sports, the university has its annual Canes Film Festival, showcasing student-produced movies. The Miami Hurricanes sports team in Division 1 with a creative-looking “marsh” bird, Sebastian the Ibis as their mascot, ready to weather any storm.
During this guided experience, we will walk through the university’s main campus, exploring the communal areas and going over all the university has to offer, along with an overview of the “magic city” of Miami that surrounds this beautiful campus. Places like Wynwood, South Beach, Little Havana, and the Everglades give the students a broad list of interests to explore from the arts to nature to cultural history right in their backyard.
Join this tour to see and know the campus and surroundings of the University of Miami. As the students say, Go Canes!
