This online campus tour of the large campus of the University of Leeds will include a visit to the main buildings plus a selection of departments and student accommodation. Remember that this is a customised tour, so it can be changed to suit your interests.

We will start at the Parkinson Building, the Art Deco headquarters of the University of Leeds and the building that features its logo. Here are housed the university's treasures and a whole host of other things. Behind it is the Brotherton Library, one of the top research libraries in the U.K with nearly 3 million books. This reflects Leeds University's status as a leading research university and a member of the 24 strong Russell group of elite British Universities.

Around the corner, we will find the oldest buildings on the campus, the Great Hall and the Clothworkers building, both built-in 1870 as part of the original Yorkshire College that went on to become Leeds University. The Great Hall is the university's chief ceremonial building where graduation ceremonies take place. The Clothworkers Hall reflects the importance of the textile industry to the growth of Leeds as a major industrial city in the 19th century.

A short walk from here will bring us into St George's Fields, once an old cemetery and now a park and the largest green space on the campus. From here we will be able to see the buildings that make up the various engineering departments of the university and the new engineering and physical sciences campus that is under construction and due to be finished in Spring 2021.
On the other side of the park is Henry Price Hall, one of the best student residential halls. As we walk out of the park and round the front of this building, you will hear about Henry Price and the various student accommodation options that Leeds offers.

Just across the road from Henry Price Hall is the Western Campus, housing the Business and Law schools. Part of the Business School is in a grand refurbished Victorian building which was once Leeds Grammar School. We will also find the Marks & Spencer building here, a resource centre donated by the founder of Marks and Spencer, who started the famous shopping chain in Leeds Market. 

Back on the Main Campus, we will walk past more student accommodation before stopping at University House. This is the most important building for student life on the campus, being the home of the student union and consisting of shops, bars, a supermarket, a bank and a whole range of other things necessary and pleasant to student life. This is where students can hear famous bands play, and it is also where they eat (in the refectory) if they have an inclusive meal plan. 

Round the back of University House, we will enter a quite different looking part of the campus consisting of award-winning 'brutalist' buildings built in the 1970s providing sweeping vistas and large pedestrian areas. Here we will pass another of the four libraries on campus, the Edward Boyle Library, a working library geared towards post-graduate study. Beyond this is the School of Mathematics and further, down a broad stair terrace, we will see the Roger Stevens Building where nearly every student will come at some point to attend a lecture. To the side of it is the 'sustainability garden' where fruits and vegetables are grown, and available to students for purchase!

Opposite Roger Stevens is the E.C. Stoner Building which has the second-longest corridor in Europe! Nestling beneath it is the 'Bike Centre'. From here you can buy, rent, repair or get advice about anything to do with bicycles.

Next on the tour is The Edge, the universities most important sports venue where we can find a swimming pool and a whole host of other sporting amenities. We will now be on the edge of the campus and get a view of Central Village, a cluster of high buildings that make up the most popular spot for student accommodation. Almost opposite is Leeds General Hospital which backs onto the university and is one of two hospitals associated with Leeds making Leeds one of the most important medical teaching and research centres in Europe.

Beyond the Student Village, we will no longer be on the campus but will continue our walk for a short distance to see some of the city's most important buildings, including the fabulous Leeds Town Hall.
