Description
Originally founded as a theological seminary and law school in 1959, the University of Geneva is considered to be one of the best 100 universities in the world. The third-largest university in Switzerland in terms of student numbers, it has a sizeable international population. Almost 40% of the university’s students come from abroad. The university is located in several buildings across Geneva as well as the nearby city of Carouge, with lectures given in six different locations.
On this Online Experience, we will explore various buildings of the University located in the city centre of Geneva: Uni Bastions; the oldest building of UniGE; Uni Dufour, Haute Ecole de Musique, Uni Mail, and the Sciences faculty. You will see the places where students like to go out for a drink or grab something to eat, parks to rest and other places you might enjoy. Meet your Host
Emilie Bissardon
I have been a professional guide in Geneva since 2009. I have studied at the University of Geneva for the Certificate of Advanced Studies "Patrimoine et Tourisme". I work with the tourist office of Geneva and the museum of the Martin Bodmer Foundation. I am passionate about the history of Geneva. It is so rich that there is always more to discover and I love that! I also appreciate the melting pot of cultures from around the world in a human-scale city where you can do everything on foot and go from the lake to the historical centre to a park in a flash.
