Description
This online experience will take you to Ollantaytambo to see a battlefield, a fortress and a temple built over 5 centuries ago by the Incas, one of the greatest civilisations of South America.
Start the experience at an Inca crop terrace located 9000 ft (2700 mts) above sea level, and take in the amazing view of the "Sacred Valley of the Incas" surrounded by imposing mountains. The terraces are well-known for growing crops, an important aspect of Inca life back in the day and for contemporary uses we will discuss in the tour.
Walk up the stone steps to visit the "Temple of the Sun," and witness one of the most impressive Inca altars, made with stones weighing more than 50 tons and brought to the site from far, far away. Uncover the greatest mysteries about Inca architecture on the way: how they moved giant stones from one mountaintop to another and how they cut the stones to fit each other perfectly. Learn more about the impressive stonework of the Inca people.
Walk through the remnants of this old battlefield town, and listen to the epic story of the Ollantaytambo Battle, where the Incas defeated the Spanish conquistadores with unbelievable tactics. Look about at the various fortified defences that allowed the town their precious victory.
