Description
Mentioned various times in the Old and New Testament, Jerusalem’s Mount of Olives is of great religious importance to Jews, Christians and Muslims alike. In this experience, we will concentrate on the Christian aspect of the Mount of Olives by following in the footsteps of Jesus during the last week of his life. We'll start this virtual tour at the Mount of Olives' observation point, from where we will have a unique view over the entire city of Jerusalem. We will talk about the city during the time of Jesus while emphasizing the history and importance of the Second Jewish Temple.
We will then walk together along the Palm Sunday Road, which is the traditional route that Jesus took when he entered the city of Jerusalem. Along the way, we will stop at the old Jewish cemetery and explain its special significance regarding the prophecy of the end of days. We will also visit the Dominus Flevit Church, which was built over the spot on which Jesus openly wept upon the sight of the Second Temple, predicting its coming destruction.
Our next stop will be the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed before his arrest and eventual crucifixion. Here we will also visit the Church of Agony, which was built over the rock on which Jesus had prayed during that night. We will end this tour by visiting the Tomb of the Virgin Mary, which was built over the site of Mary’s burial and subsequent assumption into heaven.
At the end of this experience, you will have received comprehensive knowledge regarding the biblical and historical importance of Jerusalem’s Mount of Olives. You will have also experienced the Holy City in a uniquely personal way while taking in some of the city’s most magnificent views.
