Description
Sushi is a very popular dish all over the world ! Do you know that you can make one at home without much effort? Once you make it, you can impress people!
In this live cooking session, we will introduce ourselves to each other and then check the ingredients you have. We will then make two different types of sushi and Japanese egg omelette which are both popular in authentic Japanese home cooking.
I will guide you step by step along with telling tips and stories behind Japanese cooking. We will chat, cook and eat while sharing our culture together for a fun session!

INGREDIENTS FOR SUSHI
- 160g of steamed rice (Prepare in advance)
- Rinse the 80g of sushi-grade rice.
- Soak them for 1 hour.
- Drain the water and transfer it to the pot.
- Add 80cc of water and bring it to a boil. Once it’s boiling, lower the heat and simmer it for 10 mins.
- Off the heat and steam it for another 10 mins. The rice needs to be steaming hot to make sushi in the session.
- You can always cook with a rice cooker if you have one.
- 1 sheet of nori seaweed
- ¼ of Cucumber
- 2 Crab sticks
- Sashimi-grade of tuna OR salmon
- ½ Avocado
- 1 tbsp of Sushi vinegar
INGREDIENTS FOR EGG OMELETTE
- 3 Eggs
- 1 tbsp of Sugar
- ½ tbsp of Soy sauce
- 2 tbsp of Salt
- 1 tsp of Mirin
- Vegetable oil (or any oil without strong smell is fine)
OPTIONAL TOPPINGS FOR OMELETTE
- Nori seaweed
- Leek
KITCHEN TOOLS
- 1 Plastic Wrap or Sushi Mat (if you have one)
- 1 Cutting board
- 1 Knife
- Measuring spoon
- Spatula for mixing rice
- 1 Big bowl
- 1 Medium bowl
- Chopsticks (optional)
- 1 Small non-stick pan or skillet (diameter of about 15cm/6in)

I was born in Kamakura, Japan, and attended high-school and University in Texas and California, in the US. In 2016, I went to Cambridge, the UK where I came up with the idea of starting a Japanese Cooking Class in Tokyo. I am currently teaching at the biggest cooking studio in Japan, while holding classes at home for 3 years. My main objective is to offer easy, tasty, and healthy Japanese food to guests who want authentic Japanese experience.
