Description
Mantua is a beautiful little town in the North of Italy whose origins go back to the 5th century B.C. In the more recent past, it was ruled by a famous family of Dukes, the Gonzaga, whose passion for art and beauty gave form to gorgeous Renaissance palaces, breath-taking churches, squares and streets.
On this Online Experience, we will visit three of the most famous squares: Piazza Sordello, Piazza Erbe and Piazza Leon Battista Alberti. We will walk in front of the huge Ducal Palace with its 500 rooms and 13 gardens, and admire the moat of the Castel San Giorgio. Then, stop by the house of a well-known opera character and see the Sant'Andrea Church church as I tell you about its fascinating history. I will keep you updated with anecdotes about the town's history and ruling family, which will make the tour even more real.
While strolling through the streets of Mantua, we will get a chance to see some typical products unique to our town, including delicious food specialities. The tour will end with unexpected, beautiful views under the porticoes of an old fish market.

Rossella Guandalini is an enthusiastic person and loves guiding guests where she was born. She has been doing it for over 20 years now, but it is still an interesting challenge! Her tour will allow guests to know historical and artistic developments and highlight how people live in Mantua. She wants her guests to have a deeper overview of the habits and customs of locals, with a strong highlight on local cuisine.
