Description
On this live-streamed and interactive Online Experience, we will begin our strolling from the magnificent Prato della Valle, the largest square in Europe. It is spread across 90,000 sqm and is decorated with statues all across. There is also a canal that encircles the square, and beneath the canal's waters is hidden the remains of Roman theatre. Then, we will walk towards the Basilica of St. Nicolas, and you will get to know the history of Padua and how it came into existence. The Basilica is huge and has been built over many centuries. A part of it also houses the monks, and it has a garden area too. At the same square stands the statue of the King of Padua facing Venice to show their power to them.
Next, we will walk through the streets and will reach the Bridge of Death. Listen to the two interesting legends associated with the bridge's name while walking through the streets with cafes and restaurants. Moving ahead, we will reach the University of Padua, which is considered the 2nd oldest university in the world. This building now serves as the library. It is heavily decorated with the court of arms of the professors and rich families associated with the university. One among them is Gallileo! After that, we will visit the famous Pedrocchi Cafe with three rooms inside-Red, White & Green after the Italian Flag. Then, I will show you the bullet mark on the cafe's walls marking the firing against students for protesting.
Finally, we will end our tour in the city centre, Piazza delle Erbe, Piazza della Frutta and Piazza dei Signori. You feel the real atmosphere of the city in the middle of the famous Palazzo della Ragione. Here you can experience authentic delicacies and our famous drink, Spritz or taste a nice Tramezzino. We will say our final goodbyes in front of the astronomic clock of Piazza dei Signori, the oldest in the world.
