Description
Did you know the word Madrid traces its origins to "Mayrit", the name bestowed by the Arabs 1100 years ago to mean "a land full of water".
Join me on this Online live experience to know many more such interesting trivia, anecdotes and little known facts, as we start our tour at the location of the Royal Palace, the biggest palace in Western Europe with more than 3000 rooms! The Almudena cathedral right next to it is an interesting mixture of artistic styles which just ended construction recently, and is used for regular and royal ceremonies.
Then, we will get lost in the alleys downtown. Walk through the Old City Hall Square as I point out the Arabic influences or tell you about how the royal family moved the court to Madrid to make it the capital. Our path will also take us to the oldest restaurant globally and to the famous and lovely San Miguel Market to see how we casually eat in Spain.
But Madrid is nothing without its famous Plaza Mayor, a centre point for the madrileños since the last 400 years full of stories and public entertainment, from bullfights to carnivals! We will end our tour at Puerta del Sol, the popular location where our city welcomes the New Year. Two things you cannot miss here are the Spanish tooth fairy's home, and Kilometre 0! Come join me on this Online Experience to know more!
