Description
Discover the beautiful town of Sorrento, the land of the sirens, of the orange and lemon groves. This is a way to discover this colourful town on a plain above the sea, overlooking the bay of Naples in Southern Italy. The tour begins from the main square, dedicated to the Italian poet Torquato Tasso, born in Sorrento, from where you can see the famous bars and cafès where everybody stops for a relaxing break or to enjoy a good espresso (Neapolitan coffee), then we walk to the see the historical centre with its magic atmosphere, full of restaurants and small shops of local craftsmanship such as the inlaid woodwork, the ceramics and of course the famous limoncello, a yellow liqueur made with organic lemon peels. Then we stop to see the Church dedicated to the Saint Patron of the town, Antonino, where his remains are still kept and for which construction, many Roman marbles from this area's ancient villas were used. We then arrive at the entrance of the famous ancient Cloister of Saint Francesco, today used for musical events and all the wedding ceremonies
