Description
This exciting, live-streamed Online Experience will allow you to treat your eyes to the iconic landmarks of Dubrovnik, all from the comfort of your own home. Join me on this virtual walk as we explore the "Pearl of the Adriatic" together!
We will begin by exploring the spellbinding beauty of Rector's Palace, the iconic seat of the Rector of the Republic of Ragusa between the 14th and the early 19th century which now serves as the Cultural History Museum. After this, we will visit the Sponza Palace, also known as the Divona, which boasts of an elegant mixture of Gothic and Renaissance architecture and is one of the very few buildings to have survived the Great Earthquake of 1667. Today, it houses a memorial to the Croatian War of Independence, as well as a famous sculpture of two angels carrying a medal inscribed with the monogram of Jesus Christ. We will then make our way to the St. Blaise Church, one of the city's most magnificent sights. This sacral building, built in 1715, boasts of a flamboyant Venetian Baroque architectural style and is sure to inspire awe in any visitors.
As we walk around the ancient city, I will pick out a few more interesting pages from the city's history, going all the way back to the 7th century and the glorious days of the Republic of Dubrovnik: you will get to know about the trade practices and other secrets to the riches of Dubrovnik; learn about the oldest pharmacy in the world which has been operating since 1317, and explore the threats and concerns that caused the crushing downfall of what used to be a self-sufficient society in the middle ages.
