Highlights
Detailed and insightful virtual presentation tour to the Omaha Beach
- Insights into both sides' preparations for the D-day landing
- Visit the American cemetery and the German cemetery
Description
In this carefully curated virtual presentation, you will explore more about both sides' preparations for the landings (Atlantic Wall, German defence strategy, Allied strategy and planning). Our format (Google Earth, maps, photos, footage, testimonies, quizzes) allows us to use contemporary information to provide a firm link between the past and the present, switching from the broader perspective to the soldier's viewpoint in an instant.
We will visit several German strongpoints which bring out the strength of German defences on the beach. We will see the details of the Allied plan and the problems faced by the American soldiers in executing it. We will follow a group of Americans in their successful efforts to eliminate a dangerous German strongpoint and advance inland. We will also visit the American cemetery at Colleville-Sur-Mer and the German cemetery at La Cambe, where many of the men killed on D-Day are buried.
