Description
Welcome to the Bukchon Hanok Village, an extremely popular tourist attraction in Seoul and the town where many noblemen used to live in the times of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). Join me on this live-streamed online experience to explore the expanse of the village without losing your breath walking over the hills. What do we mean by walking over the hills? Well, Bukchon Hanok is a traditional Korean village, with houses built on top of the rolling hills in order to maintain harmony with nature and cause as less damage as possible.
During the Joseon Dynasty, 30 houses of noblemen were located close to the major Royal Palaces of Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung. As we walk around the village, I will give you insights into the lives of these Yangban (Korean noblemen) and show you their Giwajip (tiled roof houses).
After the Korean War of 1950, Seoul took the path of modernisation, and everything was rebuilt from scratch. However, you can still find some traditional homes which will transport you back to that period in time. Witness day-to-day life with your me as I walk you through this quaint hamlet; you will get to explore the combined scenery of modern and traditional Seoul and be regaled with interesting stories about Korean traditional life!
