The magnificent Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur is perched atop a 150m hill. It was built in 1459 by Rao Jodha, the then-chief of the Rajput clan. The fort is a rich repository of palaces, galleries, temples and a museum. In this online experience, we will focus on a few of the most important places.
The first attraction on our list is the fascinating Umaid Bhawan Palace, built by Maharaja Umaid Singh in the 20th century. A part of the palace is now re-purposed into a luxurious heritage hotel and a museum. Next, we will see the 'Taj Mahal of Marwar', the Jaswant Thada, a royal cenotaph made of white marble built to commemorate Maharaja Jaswant Singh. You will get the opportunity to see some of the rare portraits of former rulers of Jodhpur.
Take in the panoramic views of the city and realise why Jodhpur is called the "Blue City". Your guide will share with you interesting facts, trivia and legends from the past as we move around.
