Description

Join me for an online Japanese Bento-making experience, an activity that’s fun for all ages and uses easily accessible ingredients. I will teach you the art of Kyaraben, or character bento-making, and provide you with tips to give them an authentic Japanese flavour. Using fresh, seasonal ingredients - most of which you may already have in your kitchen - we will shape and decorate cartoon faces from popular characters such as Totoro and Pikachu. Then, we will take photos of our edible masterpieces, to show off to the world.

I will guide you as you design your characters and put together a colourful, delicious and instragrammable meal. Join this class now to get going!

Meet your Host
Noriko Tominaga

I was inspired to share my culture and cuisine after an incredible experience I had cooking and eating with a local family living in rural New Zealand. After returning to Japan, I started offering cooking lessons with the sole objective of sharing authentic Japanese food and culture with the world. I specialise not only in traditional cuisine like washoku gozen as well as seasonal and authentic Japanese dishes, but also in showcasing modern trends that Japanese housewives use in their everyday cooking.

Great experience for me and my daughter! Noriko was very attentive and encouraging. My advice is to make sure you have all the ingredients prepared, so that you can fully concentrate on learning. It was amazing to connect with Noriko from the other end of the world! The sweet Japanese omelette was a great discovery, very tasty. Thank you for your teaching, Noriko!
