Description

In this online campus tour, we will cover the central district of Berlin and the area surrounding Humboldt University. We will start the tour at the historical Bebel Platz, right across from the main building of the university, where you can also see the Opera house, the formal Royal Library and the memorial to the book burning that took place during the Nazi dictatorship. From here, we will head to Museum Island, home to several world-class museums (want to guess how many?) and one of Berlin's protected UNESCO sites. We will have the chance to take a look at the newly re-inaugurated Berlin Palace before following through the central district of Mitte, which formally lied on the east side of the Berlin Wall. It has now been renovated into a commercial and entertainment centre where we can find all necessary shops, from supermarkets and pharmacies to trendy fashion stores and bars and cinemas, all within 15 minutes walk from the university itself. We will finish the tour at Alexanderplatz, one of Berlin's central stations, conveniently located 10 mins walking distance from the Humboldt University of Berlin, where we can also see the TV tower, 3rd tallest building in Europe (take a guess on the height) and the Berlin city Townhall.

Meet your Host
Rodrigo Salinas

Hello friends! I am originally from Buenos Aires and have been living in Berlin for the last 2 years. I have lived in Dublin in Ireland, Copenhagen in Denmark, and different parts of Norway. I have a special place in my heart for places with good weather.

I am enthusiastic, outgoing and love telling stories, anecdotes and sharing my knowledge of the city I live in.

I have been a tour guide for 7 years and have guided in Buenos Aires, Copenhagen and Berlin. I really enjoy what I do.

I have studied political science, history and journalism, and I also love to write. I mix all three of my interests in my tours so I can tell you a story and make you feel as if you were actually watching the events unfold before you.

I am comfortable conducting tours in English and Spanish, so get in touch if you have any questions or want a tailor-made tour.
